Choose a Natural Earth-Mined

Diamond that has been:

  • clarity enhanced
  • High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) treated
  • lab-grown

You might also choose to add a

lab-grown, Moissanite gem.

Clarity Enhanced Diamonds

Clarity Enhanced Diamonds are natural diamonds enhanced through advanced technology, filling minor fractures with an exclusive material that reflects light exactly the way a diamond does, making the flaw virtually invisible.  Such treatment gives you a larger diamond that looks amazing for a more affordable price.

HPHT Treated Diamonds

Natural Earth-Mined Diamonds that have gone through High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) process permanently changing the color of the stone from slightly colored to white.

In this high temperature (1800 to 2400 degrees Fahrenheit) and high pressure environment, the diamonds are allowed to continue the natural process so they may reach their full color potential.

HPHT process does not change the clarity of the stone.

Lab Grown Diamonds

Lab-created diamonds, also known as engineered or cultured diamonds, are grown in highly controlled laboratory environments using advanced technological processes that duplicate the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop when they form in the mantle, beneath the Earth’s crust.

Created diamonds are chemically, physically & optically exactly the same as mined diamonds and are real diamonds. The only difference is the point of origin.

All our lab-grown diamonds are certified by independent diamond grading laboratories such as International Gemological Institution (IGI) & Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL).

Lab-grown diamonds are 20 to 30 percent less expensive than mined diamonds.

An increased number of the new generation is embracing this ethical choice as they are bigger, better and offer more value for the money.

Moissanite Gems

image41

Why Charles and Clovard Moissanite?  Several reasons: First, they are beautiful and durable.  They have a hardness of 9.5, while a diamond has a hardness of 10. They technically have more 'fire' or brilliance then a diamond. And, they are more affordable then a natural diamond.

Composed of carbon and silicon, the Moissanite crystal is one of the hardest on earth, making it extremely resistant to scratching, chipping and breaking.

Unlike other brilliant stones that cloud and dull with time, Moissanite is guaranteed to never lose its optical properties.  Therefore, it will be every bit as beautiful, fiery and brilliant generations from now as the day you purchased it.  Moissanite gemstones truly are Forever Brilliant.

"I love this stone.  It's beautiful, hard, very tough, easy to set, and repair work done near the stone is no problem. When price matters it fills the need."  - Barry Golden

Buying a diamond or gem is often a very personal experience. Diamonds can be bought to signify love, significant accomplishments, or milestones in your life or that of a gift's recipient.

The more you understand about  diamonds and alternative choices, the more confident you will feel when making the right choice for your particular jewelry creation.

Take a moment to learn more about the 4Cs of a Diamond and other Gems.  Find out how they play a an important role in making your gem selection for your jewelry item and your budget.

The 4C's of a diamond

Shape

Each shape will be cut differently. Before a diamond is cut, the location of inclusions and flaws, the natural coloration, and the original shape of the rough stone are studied extensively. The stone facets are then mapped out and cut in a way that maximizes size, shape, and clarity. For optimal light performance, you will want a diamond that is cut neither too shallow nor too deep.

Color

Diamonds are graded based on the amount of color they do or do not possess. The scale runs from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow). An absolutely colorless diamond is rare and therefore very valuable. At Golden's Designer Jewelry, we generally recommend near colorless (G-J) diamonds because we feel that they give you the best overall value.

Clarity

A diamond is distinguished by its natural characteristics,  these characteristics can be present on the surface (blemishes) or within the stone (inclusions). The clarity is judged by the number and types of these characteristics and is designated using a scale that runs from Fl, defined as flawless, to I3, defined as inclusions visible with the naked eye. A flawless diamond is truly rare.

Carat Weight

The unit of measure used for the weight of a diamond is the carat. As a matter of reference, a carat is equivalent to .2 grams or .007 of an ounce. Carat weight can also be divided further by using points. There are 100 points in one carat. So a 1/4 (.25) carat stone can also be expressed as 25 points and mean exactly the same thing.
